The German Class 01.10 steam locomotives are one of the most famous locomotive classes to have operated on German soil. The locomotives are among the most powerful steam locomotives ever built for Germany's railways and accumulated some of the highest mileages of any steam locomotives in Europe.
Introduced in 1939, the locomotives only reached their performance potential after World War 2 ended and the railways were operating normally in the 1950s.
The class remained in service right through to the mid-1970s, with nine of the class being preserved at railway museums, two of which remain operational today.
This DVD contains footage of the express Class 01.10 steam locomotives operating on Germany's railways. Includes footage of the class in mainline use as well as in preservation. German commentary. 58 minutes running time.
