A predominantly colour album produced to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the formation of the Bristol Area Group of the Ffestiniog Railway Society. The group has always had a close affiliation with the Ffestiniog Railway and Bristol Group members have contributed in many ways to the ongoing success of the railway.
The book begins with a brief account of how the Bristol Group came into being and how it developed over the years. Some of the key members of the group are recounted and the various activities of the group are described.
This is followed by a series of well over a hundred photographs, mostly in colour and presented in one-per-page format, charting the development of the Ffestiniog Railway as seen through the eyes of Bristol Group members. The period from 1962 to 1998 is covered by two or three photographs for each year, then the final section covers more recent images from 2012 onwards, taken by current Bristol Group volunteers.
The captions for each photograph comprise two parts: Firstly, details are given of the photographer, date and subject. This is followed by further background information , often from the extensive Ffestiniog Railway archive, providing further interesting details about the railway and its operations.
