UNFORTUNATELY THE LONDON COUNTRY AREA 3: SOUTH WEST SOLD OUT EXTREMELY QUICKLY, THEREFORE THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO ORDER
This is the third volume in a series of four books by photographer, Jim Blake, which collectively produce a picture of the London Country Area bus scene throughout the 1970s and early 1980s.
In this volume Jim has dealt with the South West section of the London Country Area. He begins by covering Surrey, then moves on to include Berkshire and areas of Buckinghamshire. Along with photographs which show the London Country era of the 1970s and early 1980s, Jim’s photographs cover the final years of London Transport operation in the 1960s. He also includes the bus routes of the Country Area, and the Green Line coach routes running into, and through, the area.
Many of the pictures used in this volume have never been published before and these nostalgic images look back, not just at the buses and coaches which were their original subjects, but at other features which were characteristic of this time. Owing to the large number of low railway bridges in the Guildford, Staines and Woking area, the South West was the last part of the Country Area to operate the old-fashioned looking RLH class low-bridge double-deckers and several images appear in this book.
A brief introduction is followed by the photographs, which are displayed in either 2 or 3-per-page format and accompanied by captions.
