Northampton Buses and Coaches: The 1990s and 2000s, by author Matt Cooper, is made up of a collection of previously unpublished photographs celebrating Northampton's bus and coach scene in the 1990s and 2000s.
Following the deregulation of the bus industry in 1986 the transport scene in Northampton did not alter as drastically as in some other UK towns and cities. There was however a gradual change over time as the ‘green’ buses of Northamptonshire were phased out and eventually disappeared. Matt explores this interesting period between deregulation and the modern bus scene, looking at services both around Northampton and at many of the other places served by the buses. The cavernous Greyfriars bus station at Northampton features in many of the pictures.
A detailed introduction is followed by a map from 2010 showing First Group’s Northampton network. All photographs are accompanied by a descriptive caption.
