A fascinating collection of articles and photos from each of the Irish narrow gauge railways. The book is divided into chapters covering each railway with those in the Republic of Ireland first and Northern Irish systems at the back of the book. Most of the articles were written when the railways were in operation or just after their closure.
Each chapter gives a vivid description of the railway and how it operated, and in most cases the author had first-hand experience of a journey on the line. Although not strictly a narrow gauge railway, the Listowel & Ballybunion monorail is included for completeness. Other railways featured include the Tralee & Dingle, Cork & Muskerry, and County Donegal systems and the Clogher Valley and Giants Causeway tramways.
