A long-established Paris institution is the iconic Train Bleu restaurant at the Gare de Lyon, offering traditional French cuisine in elegant belle-époque style surroundings. Opened in 1900 and originally known as the Buffet de la Gare de Lyon, the restaurant was renamed Le Train Bleu in 1963 after the famous night train to Nice of the same name.

This book tells the story of the restaurant through the ages, from its opening, though the occupation of Paris during World War II, and the various renovations and staff changes. As well as photos of the interior there are also copies of menus and pages from the restaurant’s guest book, and close-ups and recipes of some of the dishes served. The text is bilingual, with French on each left-hand page and English on the right.

French and English text. Large format hardback. 160 pages.
