Part of a series of colour albums from the late Richard Riley’s archive of photos, this one covers the Midland Region of British Rail in in the last few years of steam traction between the mid-1950s and the early 1960s.

As well as classic locations on routes such as the Midland and West Coast Main Lines, the book also covers several long-gone lines and stations such as the Great Central Main Line and Bath Green Park.

There is a good variety of passenger and freight trains, light engine workings and locos on shed depicted, and photos of railtours are accompanied by a full itinerary of the tour illustrated.
