Railway historian John Scott-Morgan has put together this album of black & white photos of independent light railways from across the British Isles.

The book is divided into chapters covering each region, with notable railways featured including the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in Devon, the Ashover Light Railway in Derbyshire, the Welshpool & Llanfair, Talyllyn and Vale of Rheidol railways in Wales, and the Campbelltown & Macrihanish Light Railway which was Scotland’s only independent light railway. Also included are the two former light railways on the Channel island of Jersey, the Isle of Man’s main steam-operated rail network and the much smaller Groudle Glen Railway, and the once numerous Irish light railway systems such as the County Donegal and Clogher Valley railways.

The caption for the first photo from each railway gives a brief history of the railway in question. Hardback. 226 pages.
