The second published volume of photographs from the collection of acclaimed railway photographer, Michael Mensing.

Michael Mensing began photographing railways in 1955, as he was generally based in the West Midlands the majority of the images are from his home area, but the collection also includes many other areas of the UK which he visited over the years. A member of the RCTS since 1958, he continued taking photographs until his death in 2014.

This second volume of colour photographs focuses on his home area of the West Midlands and all of the photographs were taken in 1959, giving a real flavour of what the railways were like in the area in the late 1950s.

Photographs cover steam, diesel and electric locomotives on both freight and passenger workings, diesel and electric multiple units and occasionally just show infrastructure, such as bridges, stations or signal boxes. The photographs are displayed in one-per-page format and they are all accompanied by a detailed caption.
