One in a series of titles examining closed railway lines around Wales as well as a number which have seen great change, this volume covering the line from Newport to Ebbw Vale and Brynmawr. The line lost its passenger services in April 1962, before the Beechning cuts. The line to Ebbw Vale remained open for freight until 2002, but passenger services returned in 2008 with the reopening of the line.
The book contains a short introduction to and history of the line, followed by a series of black & white photographs taken along the line during the steam age. Each photograph is accompanied by a caption describing the subject and maps are also included.
