In 1962, Philip Wallis visited West and East Yorkshire with his camera to photograph buses in the area. In the years following his visit, many of the smaller operators were to disappear and the larger companies absorbed into the National Bus Company in 1969.
This book illustrates and describes the interesting range of municipal and independent operators that could be seen around West and East Yorkshire in 1962. His photographs cover a wide variety of vehicle types, including the last remaining trolleybuses in the area.
Photographs are arranged into chapters, each covering a bus operator. Each chapter contains a short introduction to the company, followed by a series of black & white photographs taken in 1962. Each image is accompanied by an informative caption, providing some details about the vehicle, operator and location. 96 pages.
