In 1958 the author had his first experience of France and French Railways at Calais, was immediately smitten, thus starting a lifelong love of trains in this incredibly beautiful and diverse country.
With its range of colour photographs, the book transports the reader from the early years of steam and vintage electric traction through to the present day in a wide ranging collection of images in most parts of France and describes many of the changes that have taken place over the past 60 years.
