In this book, author David Dunton presents an illustrated review of the Rhatische Bahn; one of Switzerland's most popular railways. An introduction to the railway and to the lines it operates is followed by a number of chapters, each covering a different subject.
Many of the 'treasures' of the railway are illustrated and described, including the iconic Landwasser Viaduct and the Brusio spiral viaduct. Each line is also described and a look at freight carried by the railway also included.
The book also features a survey of locomotives operated by the company in the first two decades of the 21st century, covering the 'Krokodil' GE6/6 and the regularly used GE4/4 types.
In the final chapters, David shares his experiences of travelling around the area on a trip in 2003.
All chapters are well-illustrated throughout with colour photographs, maps and tables. 102 pages.
