A comprehensive history of the legendary V 200 diesel locos built in the former Soviet Union for East Germany and a number of other Eastern Bloc countries, nicknamed “Taigatrommel” (Taiga drum) because of the amount of noise and vibration that they made.
The book gives a detailed description of the locos and their design and technical features. There are then full fleet lists for each depot where the class was based. Also covered are locos of this type used by private and industrial railways or exported to Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, North Korea, Cuba and Mongolia as well as the former USSR itself.
