The second volume of a detailed two-part history of the famous metre gauge Réseau Breton network. This second volume describes and analyses the evolution of the Breton Network from its golden age in the 1950s to the partial closure in 1967 and the operation of the familiar route that has remained since that date.
Rolling stock is examined in detail, including the entry to service of both metre gauge and standard gauge railcars, the arrival of Class 141 TCs and subsequent diesel replacements. Finally, an appendix is devoted to an inventory of preserved material that is still in existence, much of which is currently in use with tourist operations.
Le Réseau Breton Tome 2 includes more than 500 photographs, many of which are in colour. There are also line drawings of rolling stock types, several maps and plans, plus various other period reproductions. Hardback. 320 pages. French text.
