On April 16 2023, Dresden Hauptbahnhof celebrated its 125th anniversary and this book from Eisebahn Kurier has been produced to celebrate this landmark.
Author Sebastian Werner examines the history of the station using text and over 200 archive black & white and more recent colour photographs. A short history of Dresden and the development of railways around the city is followed a look at the design and construction of the station, featuring some rare images of construction work in the 1890s. The opening of the station is covered, then the remainder of the book examines the station's use over the next 125 years.
Images include a wide variety of steam, diesel and electric motive power as well as photographs of the damage the station sustained during World War 2.
