The story of the new generation of ICE high speed train in Germany. Originally commissioned under the project name ICx, the train later became the ICE 4 or Class 412, many examples of which are now in regular operation.
DB plans to purchase over 300 trains in various variants, which in the longer term will see the class take over traffic from earlier variants on all of today's IC routes. With a top speed of "only" 250 km/h, ICE 4 is slightly slower than some earlier ICEs, but it is much longer than previous ICE trains and represents a step change in design.
Der ICE 4 DVD tells the story of how the new train was developed. It shows the train under construction and on test before entering general service, as well as in daily operation after delivery to DB.
Includes a thorough look at the driver’s cab and footage from inside and outside the new train sets. 58 minutes running time. German commentary.
