An album of colour photographs illustrating Intercity 225 trains, which have been the prime electric trains operating on the East Coast Main Line for near thirty years. The brand name Intercity 225 refers to the Class 91 locomotives and Mark 4 coaching stock used on the route, referring to their maximum operating speed of 225 km/h (140 mph). The name contrasts nicely with the diesel High Speed Trains they replaced, known as Intercity 125, this being their maximum speed in miles per hour. Photographs illustrate the trains in the liveries of GNER, Virgin, National Express and East Coast, as well as several special liveries carried by individual trains. Captions accompany each photograph. 96 pages.
