The first of two volumes which feature a collection of colour photographs illustrating the remaining railway lines that serve the county of Devon. This volume examines the north and east of the county. The photos date from the mid-1980s to the 2020s and record many of the changes that have taken place over the last 35 years to both Devon’s infrastructure and trains.
The book is divided into four main chapters, each covering a section of Devon’s railways:
- Whiteball to Exeter
- Axminster to Exeter
- The Exmouth Branch
- The Barnstaple and Okehampton Branches
Includes over 180 colour photographs, most of which are presented in two-per-page format. Most illustrations show regular service trains on Devon’s railways, but a number of special workings are also included. It depicts some of the older locomotive classes in their final days, as well as the traction that provides today’s services. 96 pages.
