This is a collection of previously unpublished photos of the now withdrawn Class 314 EMUs in service across the Glasgow suburban network from their introduction in 1979 until withdrawal 40 years later in 2019.
There are some views of the units in their early days of service on the then newly reopened Argyle Line via Glasgow Central Low Level. Other locations depicted include Helensburgh Central, Motherwell, Paisley Canal, Shieldmuir and Wemyss Bay.
All four liveries carried by the class (BR blue & grey, Strathclyde orange & grey, SPT carmine & cream, and ScotRail “Saltire” blue) are illustrated, and there are also some photos featuring the older Class 303 units and test runs of prototype PEP unit 920 001 on which the 314s were based.
