The third and final volume of Martin Buck’s trilogy describing his exploits travelling the railways of Great Britain over almost 50 years.
This book is slightly different in concept to the previous volumes in the series in that it examines how Martin’s interest in the railway changed in later years, with greater emphasis placed on travelling over routes and branches that he had not previously visited. It also looks at how the railways around his home town of Swindon have changed with electrification of the Great Western Main Line.
As in previous volumes, the story is told through a series of high quality colour images, accompanied by personal anecdotes. Many specific journeys are recounted with relevant additional information provided. Chapters include:
- Class 37s: Diamond Jubilee
- Farewell to Arms: Barnetby
- New Track: Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex
- New Track: Merseyrail
- New Track: North West Miscellany
- New Track: Scottish Branches
- New Track: Long Way Home
- New Track: Eastern Counties
- Swindon: Under the Wires
