An illustrated history of Kerr Stuart locomotive 2395 named Stanhope. The locomotive was a prototype with a new type of valve gear and built during World War 1 in 1917. The locomotive worked on housing construction sites around Britain before working at Penrhyn Quarries for a few years before retiring in 1948. In recent years the locomotive has been restored and has been based at the Apedale Valley Light Railway. A fascinating history of a narrow gauge locomotive.
