The focal point of the British railway network has always been London, drawing in and dispersing traffic to and from destinations around the rest of the island and beyond. The Last Years of London Steam contains a series of archive colour and black & white photographs taken from the period between 1948 and 1967. This covers the period from the heyday of steam, through to the final steam hauled trains in and around the capital. Over 200 photographs illustrate locomotives of the 'Big Four' companies, as well as more recent British Railways designed locomotive types.
Locations from around London are featured, including many of the city's terminus stations and also locations further out of the city.
