A second and expanded edition of this book, part of a series examining the effect of Dr Beeching’s Reshaping Britain's Railways report on railways around the regions of Britain. This volume looks at the West Country, including Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and parts of Dorset. The book looks at railways in the region prior to the Beeching report and looks at those lines listed for closure or service alteration in the report. For each affected line, a short history is given, followed by details of proposed changes, timetable extracts and a number of black & white photographs. Contains details of all lines listed in the report, including those which survived and remain open today. Well illustrated throughout, including colour photographs not used in the first edition. 192 pages.
