In this book, author Jeffery Grayer has collected a series of archive black & white photographs from the Transport Treasury archive of Southern Railway trains from London to the South coast.
Photographs are mostly taken from throughout the 1950s and 1960s and are presented in chapters, each covering a county served by Southern Region routes. Many of the region's popular seaside resorts are covered, along with many smaller and lesser-known destinations.
Each chapter consists of a series of high quality black & white photographs, each accompanied by detailed captions. Further text provides some details of destinations and train services and an introduction to holiday and day trip train travel is also included. 112 pages.
