In this book, author Nick Deacon has compiled a selection of black & white photographs from the Transport Treasury archive of railways around High Wycombe and the Chilterns.
Photographs cover lines from Gerrards Cross and Maidenhead towards High Wycombe and onwards to Princes Risborough. The branches to Marlow, Watlington, Aylesbury Town and Thame are also covered.
The book largely consists of around 85 black & white photographs, presented in one-per-page format with an informative caption at the foot of each page. An introduction to railways in the area during the 1950s and 1960s is also included. A wide variety of train types are illustrated, ranging from long-distance express trains operating on the line between London and Princes Risborough to local passenger trains on the branch lines.
