In this book, author Michael Clemens has selected a series of archive photographs from the collection of Ellis James-Robertson, a photographer who travelled extensively around Wales throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
Most of the photographs included in this book are from the mid-1950s through to the mid-1960s, when steam was still the predominant motive power being used around most of Wales. The majority of the photographs cover the standard gauge railways of North Wales, but a small number of images of the narrow gauge Penrhyn and Padarn slate systems are also included.
Photographs are presented in one or two-per-page format, with extensive captions providing information about the locomotive and location, as well as further background information. 128 pages.
