This is the third in a series of fleet surveys of the LMS Stanier 8F freight locos, covering 8301-8439 (prefixed with a 4 under the British Railways numbering system) which were built at Crewe, Swindon and Horwich Works.
For each loco there is a double page entry with a table on the left-hand page containing information such as date and place of construction, dates of improvements and modifications, dates of repairs, shed allocations, and date of withdrawal. There is a good mix of photos of the locos on shed and hauling freight trains, plus two photos of 48408 with a passenger train at London Waterloo and one of 8371 assisting the derailed Perth-Euston sleeping car train after the Bourne End derailment of 1945.
Hardback. 304 pages. Over 300 black & white photos.
