The city of Koblenz, located at the confluence of the Rhein and Mosel rivers has been a transport hub for centuries, initially on the river, but later as the railway network reached the city. The lines down each bank of the Rhein join routes through the Mosel and Lahn valleys here and a pair of bridges cross the Rhein. The station is served by ICE, InterCity and regional services today.
